UNorthwest received a charter from UNIDI Brussels
In addition to the legal status held under Dutch law, the University of Northwest Europe has formally been established as a chartered institution under UNIDI a.i.s.b.l. (University Northwest International Divisions and Institutes – international nonprofit association) located at Brussels and incorporated under Belgian law. Under the charter document, Unorthwest is formally granted the authority to operate as an institution of tertiary education and to exercise all rights as stated in Article 4 of the UNIDI statute.
UNIDI is an autonomous and independent education provider for qualified institutions, colleges and universities which are operating in the field of adult education and professional development training in higher and postsecondary education.
UNIDI obtained legal personality under Belgian law by Royal decision granted by King Albert II. (6/CH/15.697/S issued on 29/01/2009). Under authority granted by law and under statutory power UNIDI is an awarding body duly authorized to operate as independent institution of tertiary education, and to establish, operate and control Higher Education Institutes nationally and abroad, as well as to conduct any and all administrative, educational and research activities related therewith.
Furthermore, UNIDI is organized as an international non-governmental organization according to the European Convention on the Recognition of the Legal Personality of International Non-Governmental Organizations (CETS No.:124/86 of the Council of Europe).
